The Carburetors:
an entire life spent in the middle of gasoline, blood,
flames and super amplified guitars, but above all spent
with a lot of raw, hard and kikin'ass rock'n'roll. A
band that, as you will check out from the interview,
has an increasing success in the native Norway. So
after the famous Turbonegro and the less known but not
less important Backstreet Girls, now it's time to include
in every rocker "wanted list", also the title
of The Carburetors' debut album named "Pain Is
Temporary, Glory Is Forever" which has really very
well impressed The Rock Explosion staff. So the interview
has been a pleasure for us to realize, even if the guys
seem to be a bit shy and short in the answers. Anyway,
here you are another ton of Norwich nitro!

Hi guys ! Why don't you introduce
the band to the Italian kids? When and how did you decide
to form The Carburetors?
King o' Men: First of all,
thank you for your interest in the Carburetors and for
helping us in spreading "Fast Forward Rock'n Roll"
to Italy. Kai Kidd started the band many years ago,
but with a different line-up. The current line-up has
been together for 3 1/2 years.
''Pain Is Temporary - Glory Is
Forever'' has become top album on The Rock Explosion.
A mix of raw Rock n' Roll that has made me remember
Motorhead, Backstreet Girls, Kiss, Rose Tattoo, Judas
Priest and others. Which are the bands of the past that
have mostly influenced you and how would you describe
in your own words your sound?
King o' Men: All of the
bands above have been a huge influence on all the members
of the band, but we must of course include AC/DC, Misfits
and Ramones.
S. Krogh: I dare say also
The Judas Priest.
How do you compose your songs?
Is there a kind of usual process, a main songwriter
among you, or does every member of the band contribute
to the creation of your music and lyrics?
E. Guz: It's different
from song to song. All the songs are written by one
or two people, sometimes also by three. I guess we can
say that everybody anyway is involved.
Is there a song of ''Pain Is
Temporary - Glory Is Forever'' you feel closer to or
that you mostly like? If so, can you explain us the
reasons. Personally I adore ''Allright, Allright''....
E.Guz: The live audience
for example seems to love "Burnout" and "F.F.R.R".
I dig songs like "Fire it Up" and "Goddamn",
because both have a particular attitude I really like.
Some people say that rock'n'roll
is dead, others tell that there's need to save the rock'n'roll!!
I would like to know your opinion on its state of health...
Kai Kidd: Rock'n'Roll is
alive and always kickin' ass! Just take one listening
to our album: Rock'n'Roll will never die!
Your debut full-length has been
released by Facefront Records. How could Italian kids
buy it? It is possible to order it only through internet
or there will be an European distribution in the next
future? How are the sales going?
S. Krogh: Sales are pretty
good in Norway and there's gonna be a vinyl version
out soon. The record has been released in Sweden and
Denmark, and it will be available in the rest of Europe
from the beginning of May.

How did you feel when Howard
Thompson, manager of the great Star Spangles, has expressed
words of appreciation for your debut?
Kai Kidd: Howard Thompson
discovered Motorhead, so of course it's cool when a
guy like that says he loves your band..
You shot some videos, which can
be found on the multimedia part of ''Pain Is Temporary
- Glory Is Forever'', so how would you describe us this
experience? I would say that you are really great at
playing with the fire and you like the kind of shows
full of pyrotechnics and tricks of all sorts. Am wrong?
So I wonder what your concept of rock'n'roll gig could
ever be
S. Krogh: The "Burnout"
video was a big hit in Norway. It was one of the most
played on 2 Norwegian TV channels for five weeks. As
for the live shows we have lots of fireworks onstage
when we play. We always put 110% into the live shows
and a big part of that is our special FX wizard Jan
the Gunner.
What do you tell me instead about
the life on the road? Which aspects do you prefer and
which ones would you gladly do without? Which are the
funniest and oddest things that occurred to you during
this period?
King o' Men: The traveling
can be a bit tiring up, and it's always worth it as
soon as the show gets under way. It's also cool to go
to new places.
S. Krogh: When Kai Kidd
was arrested in Tronheim.
Is there some concert of your
career that you remember with particular pleasure?
King o' Men: Playing support
for Rose Tattoo on their Norwegian show, cause we love
that band.
What do you do before entering
on the stage, do you have some superstitious ritual
you can't do without?
E. Guz: A group hug! Also
known as the "homo hug" as we shout: "homo,
homo, homo!" as we hug! Don't ask me why!
The Norwegian's rock'n'roll scene
seems indeed fantastic. What do you think about this?
Which are the Norwegian bands you feel to recommend
to our reads?
King o' Men: Norwegian
R'n'R has never been better. Great bands like Backstreet
Girls, Turbonegro, Gluecifer.
Chris Nitro: Personally
I like Norwegian punk-pop kings Yum-Yums.
Which are your future plans?
Could you make us some anticipation? Is there some possibilities
to see you performing in Italy?
King o' Men: We're gonna
tour in Norway with Backstreet Girls in April and May.
Hopefully we're going to Sweden, Denmark, Finland, then
who knows where...
Do you have any particular hobbies
besides the music that you like to practice during your
free time?
Kai Kidd: Work on my '65
Chevrolet Malibu and drive it like hell.
S. Krogh: If the day had
more hours I would just play more guitar.
Your fav porn star, drink and
your top 5 albums of all times:
E. Guz: Male porn star
Ron Jeremy. He's my hero.
King o' Men: Jim Beam,
Heineken Rollin Rock.
E.Guz: San Miguel
The Carburetors: Judas
Priest "British Steel", Motorhead "Ace
of Spades", AC/DC "Powerage" and "Back
in Black", Sex Pistols "Never mind the Bollocks".
Well...this is a stupid game that
we have called ''The Rock Explosion Deathmatch'', in
which we put in comparison a couple of bands and you
are free to pick up the winner. Ready to go? Let's start:
Judas Priest Vs Iron Maiden:
The Carburetors: Judas
Priest!
The Dictators Vs The Stooges:
The Carburetors: The Dictators!
Backyard Babies Vs The Hellacopters:
The Carburetors: The
Hellacopters!
Motorhead Vs Pantera (R.I.P.):

Ac/Dc Vs Kiss:
The Carburetors:
Spilt decision AC/DC Kiss!
Ok guys, the interview is over.
Now you can say goodbye to Italian kids, insult or make
compliments to The Rock Explosion and say all you want...free
space to The Carburetors!!!
E.Guz: Thanks to Rock Explosion!
Keep the beer cold and the women warm until the Carburetors
bring F.F.R.R to Italy.
